Hello Everyone,
I want to extend my heartfelt thank you for your unwavering support and positive thoughts throughout my cancer journey. Your messages, calls, and visits have been a tremendous source of comfort and encouragement. I feel incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful friends and loved ones.
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) on April 7th, following an MRI that revealed a golf-ball-sized brain tumor. Since then, I’ve undergone a biopsy, six weeks of intensive chemotherapy and radiation, and am now managing some motor function issues on my left side due to the tumor's location. It’s been a challenging journey, but I’ve been blessed with exceptional care, compassion, and dedication from my doctors and medical team. I am particularly grateful to Dr. Arjun Sahgal, Dr. James Perry, Dr. Tom Morada, and Dr. Julian Spears for their instrumental roles in my treatment and well-being.
I was treated at Sunnybrook with a cutting-edge MR-Linac machine that combines radiation therapy with real-time MRI imaging to improve treatment precision and protect healthy brain tissue. This technology allowed Dr. Arjun Sahgal¸ my Radiation Oncologist and Chief of Radiation Oncology at Sunnybrook Hospital, to perform weekly adaptive radiation as the first center in the world to attempt this approach. I participated on the UNITED-3 trial and I am thankful to say that my cancer is under control.
The results of Dr. Sahgal’s first pioneering study (UNITED-1) are now mature, and they made history as a global first to perform this treatment safely. In October, at the American Society of Radiation Oncology, a prestigious award for excellence will be presented to the team.
Inspired by the remarkable care I’ve received, I’m raising funds for an important research project led by Dr. Sahgal. The UNITED-4 trial involves taking the next step in the science to improve treatment outcomes and hopefully one day a cure. Every dollar we raise will get us closer to the $350,000 required to launch this vital research project.
I understand that we all support various causes and that cancer has touched many of our lives. If you feel inclined to contribute, please consider donating here. Your support will not only advance this essential research but also offer hope to many others. Feel free to share my message and the donation link as you see fit.
Thank you once again for your incredible support.
