As a healthy, never-smoker, a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis was a shock I received in July 2019. Lung cancer is North America's leading cause of cancer deaths, accounting for more deaths than breast, prostate, and colon cancers combined. With no routine lung cancer screening, similar to the mammogram and PSA test for breast and prostate cancers, most lung cancer is diagnosed late, when treatment options are limited, such as in my case.
Lung cancer travels with the stigma of smoking. It suffers from a low profile and chronic under-funding. I'm one of the 20% diagnosed with lung cancer who are never smokers. Anyone with lungs can be diagnosed.
Lung cancer research, education, and care need your support. Thank you for your donation - it makes a difference to the Sunnybrook lung specialists who work hard to treat me and others like me with the latest scientific knowledge and treatment options.
Warm regards, Bev
