My family, friends and I are raising funds for ALS Research at Sunnybrook. Donations on this page will support Sunnybrook's ALS Research. Please click on the blue Donate Now button above and help us reach our goal of $50,000 research funding goal.
FYI Our ALS Canada Walk to End ALS page www.alsevents.ca/markkirton is close to reaching the goal of $50,000 in only 6 short days. We are extremely grateful for the immense support the page has generated.
Sunnybrook donations will support the work of Dr. Lorne Zinman, leading scientist and ALS researcher, "ALS is a devastating neurological disease and there remains no cure. Sunnybrook houses the largest ALS clinic in Canada and researchers are testing a number of promising therapeutics that can slow disease progression. Thanks to your support, ALS will become a treatable disease and brighter days are ahead for patients and families.”
All Donators will receive a T-SHIRT "HELP KIRTS END ALS" and be entered in to a DRAW for the following: (Photos above)

Time is the most valuable commodity in the world. And very often taken for granted.
And there sure isn’t a lot of time, for people with ALS. Inevitably it's a death sentence, with many only surviving 2-5 years. It's hard... so many things, that one loved to do in life, snatched away.
The feeling of helplessness, when you have a fall and watch your daughter and wife look on with disbelief. In their minds, they can’t comprehend how their NHL dad/husband, who had legs so strong at one time, folded like an accordion and is laying there hopelessly lost and unable to move. Words cannot describe what kind of a hero the Caregiver (family) becomes, as your bodily functions and mobilities move towards paralysis. In essence, they really become an extension of you. I can’t imagine how hard it is for them.
Now is the right time for action. June 2nd LOU GEHRIG DAY represented the greatest opportunity the ALS Community has had in the last 80 years, far surpassing the Ice Bucket challenge, in its potential to launch a mission, our mission, to have our story, THE ALS STORY, heard across this land and have it resonate with its people in a way that rallies them to our cause like never before. If we succeed in this mission, the current barriers to funding ALS research will crumble, the research community will be energized, Government will facilitate rather than frustrate, and the speed with which truly effective treatments reach those living with ALS will accelerate at a pace previously thought impossible.
Your support will help to:
Sunnybrook Hospital ALS Research which is one of the world wide leaders and has numerous cutting edge and exciting Drug Trials. Sunnybrook researchers launched the world’s first trial to test the safety and feasibility of opening the blood-brain barrier using focused ultrasound in people with ALS. About to start Phase 2 shortly.
There is no cure but in this unprecidented time, there are positive drug trials all around the world.
Please consider donating toward my virtual Walk to End ALS and help me reach my goal and
HELP END ALS
ALS doesn’t stop, and neither will we.

Thank you,
